Our second committee is The Berlin Blockade, which is an Advanced level committee.
The Berlin Blockade, which began in 1948 and ended in 1949, was an event in which the Soviets cut off all road and rail connections to Berlin in order to take control of the city and intimidate the Western alliance. Berlin is located in eastern Germany and was occupied by the Soviets, thus being surrounded by the Soviet occupation zone. However, at the Yalta Conference, the Allies subsequently divided Berlin into four zones (French, British, American, and Soviet zones).
The delegates of this committee will experience the Berlin Blockade from the beginning.
