Our third committee is The Treaty of Paris Agreement, which is an Intermediate level committee.
The journey to the proposal of ecocide being formally classified as an international crime was a realization born from witnessing landscapes scarred and communities displaced, a quiet testament to the toll taken on our shared Earth. Now, as the Assembly of Rome Statute parties turns its attention to a crucial matter, we stand at a crossroad. The legal currents are shifting, compelling us to consider whether the pillars of international justice are strong enough, and broad enough, to protect not only humanity but the very habitat that sustains it. This committee will examine whether the International Criminal Court (ICC) is decisive enough to protect the planetary systems on which all human rights and human stability depend.
