UNEP

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global authority on the environment. UNEP’s mission is to inspire, inform, and enable nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. UNEP’s work is focused on helping countries transition to low-carbon and resource-efficient economies, strengthening environmental governance and law, safeguarding ecosystems, and providing evidence-based data to inform policy decisions.
Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.
Adapting to climate consequences protects people, homes, businesses, livelihoods, infrastructure and natural ecosystems. Adaptation will be required everywhere, but must be prioritized now for the most vulnerable people with the fewest resources.
In this committee delegates will be focusing on the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement and the necessary actions to combat climate change.

Committee: UNEP
